In today‘s world, the standard has traditionally been set by men, while women have often been treated as a marginal phenomenon. This gender inequality persists across various domains, including homes, workplaces, medicine, and transportation. While certain injustices, like street harassment in the form of catcalling, are publicly visible, many gaps have become so deeply ingrained in our daily lives that they often go unnoticed. Shedding light on these hidden disparities is the core focus of my thesis titled ‚mind the gap“. Mind the gap is a series which consists of short episodes, each created by different designers which vividly depict gender injustices that occur in everyday life
Stay tuned as we continue to uncover hidden inequalities in our everyday lives—one episode at a time! New episodes drop each month on vimeo and instagram @mindthegap_serie .

Ever felt like your feelings or concerns were dismissed or twisted to make you question your reality? That’s medial gaslighting, and women face it far too often. From health issues being ignored or downplayed to stories in the media that perpetuate harmful stereotypes, this subtle form of manipulation can leave women doubting their experiences. Studies show that women’s pain is taken less seriously than men’s, leading to delays in treatment and support. Women’s pain is also frequently misattributed to mental illness rather than being recognized as a legitimate physical issue. As a result, men are more likely to be prescribed painkillers, while women are disproportionately prescribed antidepressants—even when their symptoms are physical in nature. It’s not just frustrating—it’s harmful. Mind the Gap is here to shine a light on these tactics and challenge the narratives that hold women back.
